Knee Pain

Soreness up and downstairs? Pain getting in and out of car? Or sore with longer walks or runs?

Patellofemoral pain

Knee cap pain. Can feel it upstairs, squatting, lunging, on longer runs/hikes or even sometimes when sitting.

Menisical tear

Can be traumatic or degenerative (a build up over time). Usually feel this on the inside of your knee more than the outside and it can sometimes refer around into the back of the knee. Won't like bending or twisting. 

Ligament sprains

A sporting injury with the ACL, PCL and the medial and lateral ligaments having the potential to be involved depending on what causes the injury.

Arthritis

Most commonly osteoarthritis. Usually happens over 50 and your knee will usually feel stiff for up to 30 minutes in the morning.

Tendinopathy

Usually the patella tendon but sometimes the quadriceps tendon. Common with jumping sports such as volleyball or basketball.

Fat pad syndrome

Also known as Hoffa's fat pad or infrapatellar fat pad syndrome. An area below the knee cap that can get pinched when your leg is fully straight.

Iliotibial band syndrome

Common one for long distance runners or hikers. Pain out the outside of the knee that is often worse going downhill.

Osgood Schlatters

Or Sinding-Larsen-Johannson syndrome. Similar things but pain is found in slight different locations. Often happens in sporty adolescents.
